DIY Bride

Hi. My name is Whitney and I have a problem. I am a DIY-aholic. I go to fall festivals and crafts fairs to just get ideas. Why should I buy it when I can make it?! I have stock in Hobby- Lobby and have actually been told I should work there when I was able to answer a customer's question on the where-abouts of a specific item when the employee didn't know. It's sad, I know. So when Bryan popped that wonderful question, I wasn't think about the beautiful ring he was wanting to place on my finger, I was thinking about the endless possibilities of DIY projects I could do for the wedding. I'm slowly working on what I want to do with the wedding but I decided I wanted to let everyone see what all I'm putting together.

Engagement Invitations:
I don't have a picture of these right now but I'll find one later. There is a funny story with these. I made 4 templates of the font and wording on my computer with Word. I then sent them to Bryan for him to pick the one he liked. He sent an email back choosing the one I liked too. I knew it! We were meant to be. Even being and hour and a half apart we were so in sync that we picked the same font!! I was ecstatic. I immediately printed them and put them together. The writing was on white cardstock, with a layer of black behind it. I then punched two holes in the top of each paper and tied a red ribbon through them to keep them together. So cute and it took me FFFOOOORRRRREEEEVVVVEEERRRR (name that movie).  Bryan gets to my house that night and takes one look at the invitations and says (and I quote) "I don't like those at all". My heart sank. How could he?! Well, Word was upgrading to 2007 at the time. He had the updated Word and I didn't so when the template was sent, it changed the font on his side because that font didn't exist. The font I and he to my knowledge, had chosen was the Walt font. That's right, our engagement pictures were written in Walt Disney font. Really cute but not what was decided upon. Either way, we answered the questions of why we went with that font and had a great party.

Save the Dates
We created the save the dates with a picture from our engagement session and photoshop. The original looked completely different than this. Justin, our wonderful photographer, played around with them and came up with this. Not to brag, to create and print 60 of these it cost me $11 and I didn't even need all 60.

Homemade Invitations

Woot woot! I've uploaded a post on how we made our invitations. It was a long process but we made it and they've all been sent out so our guests will soon be sending back their song requests on the RSVP cards. Go check them out!
